The ESMERALDAS experiment was carried out in 2005 in Ecuador (~1-3°N, ~79-81°W) to detect local earthquakes involved in the subduction of the Nazca oeanic plate and the overriding South American continental plate. 18 onshore stations (8 BB and 10 SP) were deployed between the trench and the coast during 4 months (March-June 2005).
