FDSN Network Information

FDSN code ZM (2001-2002) Network name Southeast Indian Ridge, EW-0114 (SEIR)
Start year 2001 Operated by
  • Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory, Columbia University (LDEO), United States of America
End year 2002 Deployment region
Description

Cruise EW-0014 (Fremantle to Hobart, Australia) from Dec. 7, 2001 through Jan. 25, 2002. Acquisition of seismic refraction data using multi-element Ewing airgun array as a sound source and Ocean Bottom Hydrophones (OBH) as receivers. 6 deployments of 4 OBH each. Goal was to determine the dependence of melt supply on variations in mantle temperature at constant spreading rate & to invest. the effects of these variations on crustal accretion & the resulting crustal structure & morphology.
