FDSN Network Information

FDSN code YP (2001-2003) Network name Southern Apennines Tomography Experiment (SAPTEX)
Start year 2001 Operated by
End year 2003 Deployment region -
Description

The Southern Apennines Tomography Experiment (SAPTEX) temporary array was deployed
in southern Italy from June 2001 to December 2003. During this period many local, regional, and teleseismic events have been recorded at 26 different recording sites, providing a very good dataset for high-resolution seismological investigations. The studies we have planned include high-resolution tomographic imaging of the mantle structure, relocation and focal mechanisms computation of crustal and deep earthquakes, receiver function analysis for the Moho geometry, seismic anisotropy, and attenuation tomography. The first two studies are in progress.
