Description

The objective of the ABYSS project is to probe the mechanical state of a fault zone prior to several large earthquakes (magnitude > 6) in order to identify systematic markers of the earthquake preparatory phase. The project uses distributed acoustic measurement on optical fibers, which allows to detect earthquakes thanks to underwater telecommunication cables. This network of onland stations is designed to complete the offshore observations and refine the locations of earthquake, to calibrate the technology. To that end, we installed 11 stations along the shore, equipped with 40T 30 s - 100 Hz Güralp sensors and Taurus Nanometrics datalogger.

Additional Notes RESIF was originally set as the Primary data center but then changed when it became to archive the data. Per Bertrand Potin: "I was hoping to store the data al RESIF, but they are not able to help as the data is not acquired in France nor with french sismob instruments. They apparently lack financing to be able to store large quantity of data."
