Dear FDSN Steering Committee,

As you may know, at the 2019 meeting of the FDSN steering committee in Montreal, the terms of reference of the FDSN were updated to define three membership categories, two of which support the FDSN financially. You can review the updated terms of reference at https://www.fdsn.org/terms/. The FDSN executive committee has set up a bank account for the FDSN and will start collecting membership dues in 2025.

The activities and developments of the FDSN that are supported by the collection of dues include:

* Travel grants to promote participation at meetings & workshops
* Sponsorship of regional metadata workshops

The executive committee asks that you please take some time now to discuss within your member organization to determine your level of support:

* “supporting” (US$5,000/year, 6 votes on financial matters),
* “contributing” (US$1,000/year, 2 votes on financial matters), or
* “participating” (no financial contribution, 1 vote on financial matters).

Please respond to this email, indicating your level of support, by December 31, 2024.

Sincerely, on behalf of the FDSN Executive Committee,

Nick Ackerley

      UNCLASSIFIED - NON CLASSIFIÉ

      Dear FDSN Steering Committee,

As you may know, at the 2019 meeting of the FDSN steering committee in
Montreal, the terms of reference of the FDSN were updated to define three
membership categories, two of which support the FDSN financially. You can
review the updated terms of reference at https://www.fdsn.org/terms/.
The FDSN executive committee has set up a bank account for the FDSN and
will start collecting membership dues in 2025.

The activities and developments of the FDSN that are supported by the
      collection of dues include:

      - Travel grants to promote participation at meetings & workshops
      - Sponsorship of regional metadata workshops

The executive committee asks that you please take some time now to
discuss within your member organization to determine your level of support:

      - “supporting” (US$5,000/year, 6 votes on financial matters),
      - “contributing” (US$1,000/year, 2 votes on financial matters), or
      - “participating” (no financial contribution, 1 vote on financial
      matters).

Please respond to this email, indicating your level of support, by
      December 31, 2024.

Sincerely, on behalf of the FDSN Executive Committee,

    Dear All,

the ORFEUS Board of Directors decided that ORFEUS will be a "supporting“ member in 2025.
This means a contribution of 5000 USD (and 6 votes on financial matters).

This level of support is appropriate for ORFEUS due to its representation and coordination roles
of the community of Euro-Mediterranean seismic networks and seismological data centers.

The ORFEUS contribution is intended to show the clear support of ORFEUS for this
initiative. Further, ORFEUS recognises that many of its participating institutions may not
be able to secure additional semi-long-term funding to external agencies, and the ORFEUS
contribution provides a way to accomplish this.

This does not prevent individual data centers and/or EIDA nodes from providing additional
financial contributions to the FDSN, as already announced by a few on this FDSN mailing
    list.

ORFEUS will reassess this choice every year. ORFEUS remains open to exploring options for
increasing the level of contribution in the future.

    Best wishes,
    Carlo.
